However before long at all the people of Rome formed a huge mob and threw rocks and sticks at the senate whenever they saw them.
6.) In order to escape the mob the senate discovered the mob really liked the Gordians so they elected a third Gordian, teenage boy in Rome as the Emperor, this worked and the mob laid off. Then they marched on Maximinus' camp and killed them in the dead of night. Gordian 3 lived through the year as emperor.
EMPERORS OF THE FALL OF ROME (284-365 A.D)
Diocletian: Ruled from (284-305 A.D) he built forts along the Roman frontier as well as made income and property taxes to pay for roads, bridges, sewers and defense. Split empire into four groups, each ruled by an emperor, there by establishing a tetrarchy. Each half of the empire was split in two, each half was ruled by an Augustus and caesar each ruled half of a half. A caesar is an Augustus of full emperor in training, being taught by the half's Augustus. As great as Diocletian was, he did have a bad side. Diocletian hated Christians. He made their religon illegal and tortured them in ways like making them human torches, killing them with wild animals and killing them on crosses.
Constantine: Ruled from (306-337 A.D). Constantine moved the Roman capital to Byzantium or modern day Constatinople and declared all sons must follow their father's trade. Constantine won leadership in the battle of the milvian bridge. He had a dream before which told that the sign to win by was a cross. So Constantine switched to Christianity and painted red crosses on his soldiers' shields. He made Christianity lawful through the Edict of Milan.
Theodosius: ruled from (347-395 A.D). Banned the gladiator games, because he claimed bloody spectacles were not suitable for civil ease and domestic quiet. Also banned religions other than Christianity. Theodosius slaughtered the people of Thessalonica in 390 A.D because they followed pagan beliefs. Afterward the bishop told him he could no longer do that if he wished to remain in the Christian church.
REASONS FOR THE DECLINE OF ROME
1.) The borders were two big
2.) The split empire created a divided army and smaller army
3.) Conflict between the Christians and other religons
4.) Two many people
5.) Invaded by barbarians
6.) Too high of taxes
7.) Hired non-citizen and less loyal army
8.) The final emperor was a kid
9.) Wealthy people didn't pay taxes or fight
10.) Odeacer and his troops conquered Rome
THE FALL OF THE WESTERN ROMAN EMPIRE(ROMULUS 476 A.D)
The barbarian leader Oadeacer demands 1/3 of Italy and when Romulus says no he deposes and takes over the Roman throne. So now Rome is barbarian territory and longer the Roman Empire.
